El projecte postdoctoral, finançat amb Programa Investigo, estudiarà les propietats de la barrera hematoencefàlica (BBB) que consisteix en una estreta xarxa de capil·lars sanguinis al cervell que separen el sistema circulatori del sistema nerviós central.
Les seves propietats particulars es basen en la interacció dinàmica entre les cèl·lules endotelials cerebrals i altres cèl·lules circumdants, especialment els astròcits. El becari postdoctoral dissenyarà i sintetitzarà una bastida tridimensional que recapitula les principals característiques de la matriu extracel·lular BBB i serveixi de plataforma per co-cultivar cèl·lules endotelials microvasculars del cervell humà i astròcits corticals humans.
