The eleventh edition of BIOSPAIN, organized by ASEBIO, the Spanish association of biotechnology companies, was held at the Barcelona Fairgrounds from 26 to 28 September. During the three days the fair was held, BIOSPAIN 2023 contributed to strengthening the biotechnology sector as a driver of a health model, positioning itself as a key factor to achieve the strategic autonomy of Spain, and of Europe as a whole, in such decisive areas as the economy, health, sustainable food, and the green industrial transition.

With record participation (more than 2,100 people from 975 entities across 30 countries), this year’s edition held in Barcelona bolstered the role of BIOSPAIN as a strategic platform for biotechnology companies and potential investors to meet one another. At the same time, it also strengthened the position of the city itself and of Catalonia as one of the most competitive innovation hubs in Europe.

Within this context, IQS Tech Transfer, the IQS division that manages R&D&i and technology transfer activities, was present at the event to offer its latest innovations and services to companies in the biotechnology sector.

During the three days the fair was held, IQS Tech Transfer had the opportunity to present its solutions to business needs across various areas of experience in biotechnology at IQS, thus contributing to the growth and competitiveness of the sector.

Among the wide range of services we presented to participating companies, it is worth highlighting the following:

  • The Bioprocess Pilot Plant, part of the IQS CTPTI, with facilities that range from designing biocatalysts to designing and optimizing bioprocesses that make it possible to offer first-line CDMO services.
  • We can also highlight the offer of drug delivery platforms based on nanotechnology, with the design, development, and manufacture of nano materials designed to act with biological systems both for medical and industrial purposes.

These synergies established between biotechnology companies and IQS Tech Transfer at BIOSPAIN will facilitate the launch of more strategic partnerships that will help to further boost the biotechnology sector in Catalonia.
